Social Work Assistant Intake and Assessment
Childrens Services
Barry, Vale of Glamorgan (hybrid working)
£14.17 per hour + Holiday pay accrued on top

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Vale of Glamorgan Council for a Social Care Officer based within Childrens Services Intake and Assessment Social Work team. This is a full time position to start ASAP to cover sickness, initially for 3 months.

A clean driving licence is a must. A good general education, willingness to undertake development (including training as required). Ideally but not essential you will hold a Diploma in Health and Social Care, Children and Young People or other equivalent level or above qualification with children / young people. This role offers hybrid working.

Roles and duties will include;

1. Be a point of contact with professionals and appropriately manage telephone, emails and other methods of communication.
2. To assess information received from professionals and the public and in consultation with Social Workers and supervisor.
3. To input data and use IT systems as appropriate and relevant. Update the Department’s computer client record system to deal with enquiries, and contribute to the maintenance and accuracy of the information stored in the system by adding and updating as appropriate.
4. To administrate and facilitate various meetings as requested by Social Workers and Supervisor
5. To utilise various systems to provide information and updates for meetings as requested by Social workers and Supervisors
6. Work with Children’s Services Social Workers partners and other professionals.
7. To participate in supervision, training, job shadowing and workshops etc. required to fulfil the duties of the post and to enhance the performance appropriate to the needs of the service, in co¬operation with the Children’s Services Principle Social Worker and Team Manager.
8. To assist with the facilitation of supervised contact between children and their parents
9. Assisting with occasional transport of children to and from meetings they need to attend
10. Facilitating the delivery of documents to families

To apply for this role, you will need to hold -

  • A minimum of 6 months experience of working in childrens services
  • Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS
  • 3 Years of referencing
  • Driving license with access to a car
