Social Worker – Corporate Parenting Service

Devon County Council are looking for passionate and committed Social Workers to join their developing Corporate Parenting Service, supporting children in care and care experienced young people up to the age of 25.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a service that is ambitious for its young people and focused on helping them achieve positive, long-term outcomes into adulthood. With strong partnership working and an established support network around the service, you’ll be part of a team that genuinely invests in the futures of care experienced young people.
The service works closely alongside Personal Advisors who are co-located within the teams, as well as learning advocates from the Virtual School, careers advisors, housing pathway coordinators, homelessness prevention workers and health partners to ensure young people receive the support they need to thrive.
About the role:
As a Social Worker within the Corporate Parenting Service, you’ll build meaningful and lasting relationships with children and young people, supporting them through adolescence and preparing them for independence and adulthood.
You’ll play a key role in helping young people feel heard, supported and empowered while ensuring plans are focused on stability, permanence and future aspirations.
The role will include:
• Completing comprehensive assessments
• Preparing Care Plans and Pathway Plans
• Undertaking statutory Children in Care visits and reviews
• Attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings
• Supporting young people transitioning into independent living
• Managing adolescent and contextual safeguarding risks
• Occasional Court work linked to permanence planning

To be considered, you will need:
• Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration
• Experience within Children’s Social Care
• Good knowledge of legislation relating to Children in Care and Care Experienced Young People
• Understanding of adolescent risk and contextual safeguarding
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency environment
• Court experience desirable but not essential
