Exeter & East Devon
Up to £36 per hour DOE
Full Time | 37 Hours Per Week

Are you an experienced Supervising Social Worker looking for your next fostering opportunity within a supportive and child-centred service?

Devon County Council are currently seeking an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their Exeter & East Fostering, Supervision & Support Team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with foster carers, ensuring children and young people are supported within safe, stable and thriving placements while promoting high standards of fostering practice throughout the service.

About the role
The team is responsible for the supervision, support and development of foster carers across the Exeter & East area, ensuring practice is delivered in line with:
✔ National Minimum Standards for Fostering
✔ Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011
✔ Relevant fostering legislation and safeguarding frameworks

You will play a key role in:
• Supporting and supervising foster carers
• Undertaking unannounced visits and annual reviews
• Quality assuring fostering practice
• Delivering training to prospective and existing foster carers
• Promoting placement stability and positive outcomes for children
• Championing excellent professional social work practice

This is a relationship-focused role requiring practitioners who can build strong partnerships with foster carers while maintaining high professional standards and safeguarding oversight.

What Devon are looking for
• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
• Completed ASYE
• Strong post-qualifying experience within Children & Families services
• Experience within fostering OR strong transferable safeguarding experience
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong organisational, planning and recording abilities
• Sound knowledge of fostering legislation and legal permanence options
• Ability and willingness to travel across the Exeter & East fostering area

Working arrangements
Social Workers will need to remain responsive to service needs, including visiting children and foster carers where required. There may be opportunities for some home working, which can be discussed further at interview stage.
