Hybrid Working | Initial 3 Month Contract

An exciting opportunity has become available within Swindon Borough Council’s Assessment & Child Protection Service for an experienced Team Manager to join a fast-paced and dynamic frontline service.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manager looking to broaden their leadership experience within a supportive local authority committed to improving outcomes for children and families.

Even better — Swindon have confirmed that the £100 weekly travel and accommodation allowance will remain in place for all new and existing agency workers within Children’s Social Care until August 2026 for those living over 50 miles from Swindon.

About the role:
This is a non-case holding Team Manager position working within the Assessment & Child Protection Team alongside fellow managers in a busy and highly collaborative environment.

The team works closely with MASH, assessing incoming referrals requiring statutory assessment and safeguarding intervention to ensure children are protected and supported at the earliest opportunity.

The successful candidate will oversee a team operating within a duty rota, with duty responsibility one week in every six. During duty weeks, the team receives new referrals directly from MASH to complete statutory assessments and safeguarding processes.

This role requires a confident and experienced manager who can:

• Lead within a fast-paced frontline environment
• Manage competing demands and changing priorities
• Provide strong supervision and oversight to staff
• Drive high standards of safeguarding practice
• Support positive outcomes for children and families

What’s on offer?
• £47.50 per hour Umbrella
• Initial 3 month contract
• Hybrid working arrangement
• Office attendance required 1 full week in 6 for duty week
• Remaining weeks approximately 1–2 office days
• £100 weekly travel/accommodation allowance for eligible workers
• Supportive management structure and collaborative leadership team

To be considered, you will need:
• Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration
• Previous Team Manager or supervisory experience within Children’s Services
• Strong MASH and/or Assessment & Child Protection experience
• Experience supervising and supporting frontline staff
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and to strict deadlines
• Excellent safeguarding decision-making skills
• Flexibility and resilience within a changing environment
