Principal Social Worker – MASH

Location: Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Pay: £33 per hour PAYE / £41.58 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Until the end of April 2027
Working Pattern: Hybrid working

Hoop Social Work is recruiting an experienced Principal Social Worker to join the MASH team in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social worker with a strong MASH background and previous experience at Principal Social Worker level or significant senior social work experience.

The Role

• Screening and assessing incoming referrals, making informed decisions about the appropriate response.

• Identifying safeguarding concerns and assessing risk to ensure children receive the right support and protection.

• Using professional judgement to make timely, proportionate decisions within a MASH environment.

• Working collaboratively with partner agencies to support effective information sharing and decision-making.

• Ensuring children's safety and welfare remain at the centre of all decisions.

Working Arrangements

• The role is based in Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf when on site

• Hybrid working is available following an initial induction period of approximately 1–2 weeks, depending on the worker's confidence and ability to work independently.

• Office-based days will be Monday and Tuesday.

Requirements

• Previous experience working within a MASH team is essential.

• Previous experience at Principal Social Worker level or significant senior social work experience.

• Experience of screening referrals and making safeguarding decisions.

• A recognised Social Work qualification.

• Current registration with Social Care Wales.

• A minimum of six months' experience working in the UK as a registered social worker.

• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

• Three years of references.

• A full driving licence and access to a car.
