Initial 3-month contract

Hoop Social Work are recruiting for an experienced Social Worker/Senior Practitioner to join a busy Children’s Services Court & Assessment Pod in Wrexham.

This is a key role managing a pod of Social Workers undertaking Section 47 enquiries, assessments, and intervention work, including full Public Law Outline (PLO) and court processes for families where children require statutory services.

The role also includes supervisory responsibility within the pod, supporting practitioners with casework and decision-making, and providing management cover when required.

Key responsibilities:
✔ Manage a pod of Social Workers undertaking S47 and assessment work
✔ Oversee care proceedings and court-related processes (PLO)
✔ Provide supervision and practice support within the pod
✔ Cover a duty pod on a 3-weekly rota
✔ Work 5 days in the office during duty weeks
✔ Support wider duty pods and provide cover for Team Manager absence
✔ Contribute to service continuity and escalation support when required

Requirements:
✔ Social Work Wales registration
✔ Significant Children’s Services experience
✔ Strong court and safeguarding background
✔ Experience supervising or mentoring practitioners (desirable)
✔ Ability to manage complex, fast-paced caseloads

Additional Information:
Out-of-hours support is negotiated as part of rota arrangements.
