About the Role
Hoop Social Work is recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Wellbeing Coordinator to join the established Wellbeing team at Coleg y Cymoedd in Nantgarw.
This is a varied and rewarding role supporting learners with a range of personal, financial and wellbeing needs, helping to remove barriers that may be impacting their education, attendance and overall experience at college.
You’ll work as part of a team alongside four other Wellbeing Officers, managing a caseload of approximately 30 learners.
The role is fully onsite, with core hours of 9am–3pm working directly with learners, followed by 3pm–5pm administrative and case management time.
The contract will run until the end of the December academic term, with the potential for the position to become permanent in the future, subject to the usual permanent recruitment process.
What will you be doing?
Your day-to-day role will include:
- Providing 1-to-1 support to learners experiencing personal, financial or wellbeing difficulties
- Managing a caseload of approximately 30 learners, ensuring appropriate support, recording and follow-up
- Responding to referrals and identifying suitable internal and external support
- Acting as a friendly and approachable first point of contact for learners through open-door enquiries
- Supporting learner retention, including mediation between learners, tutors and college staff where appropriate
- Providing guidance around financial support and entitlements, including EMA, FCF and WGLG
- Supporting professional-only applications, including Buttle Trust and the Discretionary Assistance Fund
- Working with external organisations and agencies to develop effective support networks for learners
- Keeping accurate records and ensuring appropriate follow-up and case management
- Responding confidently and calmly to reactive situations as they arise
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is outgoing, approachable, confident and genuinely enjoys working with young people.
Essential:
- Strong case management experience
- Experience working in learner/student support or a similar environment
- Excellent ICT and computer skills
- Confidence navigating referral pathways and working with other agencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build rapport quickly with young people
- A practical, solution-focused approach to supporting learners
- The ability to work reactively while maintaining a well-managed caseload
Requirements
An Enhanced DBS covering both Children and Adults is required for this role. Ideally, you will already hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
You will also need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) for further education. If you are not currently registered, this is a straightforward process and we can provide guidance on how to complete this.
