Taking Steps Towards Carbon Neutrality: Our Emissions Reduction Targets

In our commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions, we have outlined ambitious carbon reduction targets to steer our journey towards a more sustainable future. Our projections indicate a significant decrease in carbon emissions over the next five years, aiming for a reduction to 25 tCO2e by 2028.

    Initiatives Driving Carbon Reduction

Despite a reported increase in total emissions this year, our efforts have intensified with the implementation of various carbon reduction initiatives. Guided by recommendations from a Sustainability Advisor at Business Wales and leveraging tools like Google Workspace's Carbon Footprint report, we're enhancing the accuracy of our emissions reporting.

Some of the key initiatives we've undertaken include:

    • Regular maintenance of fans and air vents to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions.
    • Redesigning internal spaces to ensure unobstructed radiators for optimal heating.
    • Adjusting boiler settings to maintain a static temperature of 18 degrees Celsius.
    • Enforcing a strict policy of turning off electrical equipment when not in use.
    • Adopting online signing services and document sharing platforms to minimise paper usage.
    • Enhancing recycling programs in alignment with local council schemes.
    • Providing reusable water bottles to employees to discourage single-use plastic consumption.
    • Contributing to Afforestation and Green Growth

Collaborating with initiatives like https://plant.moretrees.eco/, we've committed to planting two trees for every new employee, resulting in the plantation of 145 trees and an estimated sequestration of 43.5 tonnes of CO2.

Furthermore, we've undertaken a Green Growth Pledge, focusing on waste reduction and pollution mitigation throughout our supply chain. Led by our Head of Business Operations, we're striving to minimise waste output and transition towards reusable and recyclable products.

Empowering Change Through Education and Advocacy

Recognizing the pivotal role of education, we've established a Green Growth Pledge team tasked with driving process improvements and efficiency enhancements across the organisation. Led by the HR Manager, we're conducting workshops to educate employees on practical steps for carbon reduction both within the business and in their personal lives.

Moreover, our leadership is actively engaging in educational events and training programs, such as attending Green Skills for a Net Zero event and pursuing courses like the IEMA Pathways to Net Zero.

    Commitment to Transparency and Accountability

Our Carbon Reduction Plan adheres to established reporting standards and guidelines, ensuring transparency and accountability in our emissions reduction efforts. It has been thoroughly reviewed and endorsed by our board of directors, affirming our dedication to realising tangible environmental impacts through concrete actions.

As we embark on this journey towards carbon neutrality, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come. Join us in our quest for a cleaner, healthier planet.
