Family Support Worker – Early Help & Assessment Team
Location: Usk, Monmouthshire – county-wide
Pay: £16.50 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: 3 months
Driving licence and access to a car: Essential
Hoop Social Work is recruiting for an experienced Family Support Worker to join the Early Help & Assessment Team within Monmouthshire Children's Services on an initial three-month contract.
This is an opportunity to work directly with children and families who are open to the Assessment Team, providing practical and targeted support while helping families to make positive changes. You will work with families until their cases either close or transfer to the Family Support Team.
About the role
You will work alongside social workers and other professionals to support families with a range of needs, helping parents develop their parenting skills and supporting positive relationships between parents and their children.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking direct work with children, young people and families.
- Supporting parents to develop their parenting skills and make positive changes.
- Building positive and effective relationships with children, parents and families.
- Working in partnership with families and other professionals to identify and address needs.
- Contributing to the formulation, implementation and review of care and support plans.
- Signposting and referring families to appropriate support services where required.
- Working collaboratively with other agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
- Where required, coordinating and supervising contact between children and their parents.
- Recording and measuring the outcomes of your work.
- Maintaining accurate records and case documentation.
- Working with families on a time-limited basis.
About you
You will need to have previous experience working as a Family Support Worker, with a good understanding of working with children and families within a social care setting.
We're looking for someone who can build strong relationships with families, communicate effectively and work confidently as part of a multi-agency team.
You must have:
- Previous Family Support Worker experience – essential
- Experience of undertaking direct work with children and families.
- An understanding of safeguarding and the needs of children and families.
- The ability to build positive relationships with parents and children.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as alongside social workers and partner agencies.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle – essential, as the role is county-wide.
