Job Description

Intake & Assessment - Team Manager

Pay rate in line with the pledge - £37-48

Cardiff Council

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Manager to lead one of our four busy Intake & Assessment Teams within Cardiff Children's Services.

You will be joining a well-established service with committed and supportive colleagues who are dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for children and families across Cardiff.

The Intake & Assessment Team receives referrals from our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) that have been screened and identified as requiring a statutory assessment. The team works with children and young people aged 0-18 and their families across the city.

Based at County Hall, Cardiff, the service operates a duty rota and as such the successful candidate will be required to attend the office for up to two days per week, depending on duty responsibilities. Agile working arrangements are available alongside this.

About the Role

You will provide leadership, oversight and support to a team of Social Workers undertaking statutory assessments and interventions, including:

  • Section 47 Child Protection enquiries
  • Well-being assessments
  • Pre-proceedings and court work where required

The team undertakes timely assessments, identifies risk, and provides immediate support and intervention where required. Where longer-term involvement is needed, children and families transfer to our Locality Teams to receive ongoing support.

The service works proactively with children and families on the edge of care, identifying strengths and support networks to enable children to remain safely within their family networks wherever possible.
