Pay rate in line with the pledge - £41.58 Umbrella / £33 PAYE

Cardiff Council are looking for a Senior Social Worker for their Professional Concerns team.

£33 PAYE / £41.58 Umbrella

The Practitioner Concerns Team is a specialist safeguarding service within Cardiff Children's Services. The team manages allegations and safeguarding concerns relating to practitioners, volunteers, foster carers and other individuals in positions of trust who work with or care for children and young people, in accordance with Section 5 of the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.

Reporting to and supporting the Designated Officer for Safeguarding, the postholder will undertake a key role in progressing safeguarding concerns and allegations involving adults working with children and young people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and progressing referrals relating to allegations and safeguarding concerns involving practitioners and individuals in positions of trust.
  • Undertaking information gathering, screening and safeguarding risk assessment activities.
  • Supporting the coordination and progression of Section 5 safeguarding processes.
  • Arranging, attending and contributing to Professional Strategy Meetings and associated multi-agency safeguarding activity.
  • Liaising with Children's Services, Education, Police, Health, HR services and other partner agencies.
  • Providing safeguarding advice and guidance to professionals regarding allegations and concerns involving adults working with children and young people.
  • Preparing reports, chronologies, meeting records and professional correspondence.
  • Supporting the Designated Officer for Safeguarding in the effective management of complex practitioner safeguarding matters.
