Child Protection Chair (Independent Safeguarding & Reviewing Officer)

Umbrella: £44.00 per hour

Hoop Social Work are recruiting for an experienced Child Protection Chair / Independent Safeguarding & Reviewing Officer (ISRO) to join Somerset Council based in Taunton for an initial 4 month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced safeguarding practitioner to play a key role in improving outcomes for children and young people. You'll independently chair Child Protection Conferences and Children Looked After Reviews, providing effective oversight, challenge and quality assurance to ensure care and protection plans are child-focused, robust and deliver positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Chair Child Protection Conferences and statutory Children Looked After Reviews.

• Provide independent scrutiny and challenge to ensure effective safeguarding and care planning.

• Promote high-quality social work practice through quality assurance, auditing and reflective practice.

• Work collaboratively with partner agencies including Health, Education, Police and CAFCASS to achieve the best outcomes for children.

• Escalate concerns where practice or planning falls below expected standards.

• Support continuous improvement through mentoring, professional development and sharing best practice.

To apply for this role, you will need to hold:

• A minimum of 6 months' experience working in the UK as a registered Social Worker

• A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)

• Current registration with Social Work England

• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

• The ability to provide 3 years of referencing

• A full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
