Senior Supervising Social Worker (Home-Based)
Location: Devon & Somerset (must be within easy reach of the M5)
Salary: £42,032 per annum
Additional Benefits: £750 Homeworking Allowance + £1,500 Out-of-Hours Allowance (once on rota)
Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday)
Contract: Permanent

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Supervising Social Worker to join a dedicated fostering service supporting carers and children across Devon and Somerset.
This is a home-based role where you will work closely with foster carers and colleagues to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed support, helping children and young people achieve positive and lasting outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a diverse range of foster carers and the children in their care
- Ensure children are safe, well cared for, and achieving positive outcomes
- Undertake Form F assessments when required
- Facilitate support groups and deliver training to foster carers
- Contribute to service development and support colleagues
- Maintain accurate records using internal systems (e.g. CHARMS)
- Participate in the Out of Hours service (once on rota)
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A recognised social work qualification
- Current registration with Social Work England
- At least 2 years’ post-qualifying experience within fostering, family placements, or a similar childcare setting
- Experience supervising foster carers (ideally managing caseloads of 10–12 families)
- Strong experience working with looked-after children and supporting their development
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act and Fostering National Minimum Standards
- Experience delivering training and/or group work
- Excellent organisational and IT skills, including use of electronic case management systems
- Enhanced DBS (processed upon appointment)
