Are you brilliant at connecting with young people, building relationships in the local community and getting people genuinely excited about new opportunities?
We're recruiting for a Youth Engagement Officer to join a well-established, employee-owned training and employability organisation supporting young people across South Wales.
This is an energetic, people-focused role where you'll be out in the community, building local networks and engaging with young people who could benefit from training, work experience and employability support.
The role Your focus will be on identifying, engaging and recruiting young people onto the Jobs Growth Wales Plus (JGW+) programme.
You'll build relationships across Abergavenny, Abertillery and Blackwood, raising awareness of the programme and creating strong referral networks within local communities.
Your role will include:
- Engaging and recruiting young people onto the JGW+ programme
- Building relationships with schools, community groups and local organisations
- Developing new partnerships and strengthening existing referral networks
- Using outreach, networking, digital activity and telephone engagement to reach new learners
- Attending community events and engaging directly with young people
- Promoting training and employability programmes in an engaging and accessible way
- Working closely with Centre Leads and Learner Coaches to ensure a smooth journey for new learners
- Developing a strong understanding of local communities and available support networks
You'll ideally have:
- Experience working with young people or a genuine passion for making a difference
- Strong knowledge of local communities and networks
- Confidence building relationships with schools, community organisations and partner agencies
- A proactive approach to outreach and developing new connections
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to engage and motivate people from a wide range of backgrounds
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential due to the travel involved across the region.
A DBS check and EWC registration will also be required, with the cost of the DBS covered by the employer.
