Hoop Housing is recruiting on behalf of a leading social housing provider for an experienced Project Engineer to play a key role in delivering fire safety improvement programmes across a diverse residential property portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with experience in fire alarm systems, sprinkler installations, M&E projects, or compliance-led maintenance programmes to join a team committed to improving resident safety and ensuring regulatory compliance.
The Role
You will take ownership of Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) remedial works from identification through to completion, managing projects that improve fire safety within occupied residential buildings. Working closely with contractors, consultants, residents, and internal stakeholders, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing fire safety remedial projects from inception to completion
- Developing specifications, scopes of work, drawings, and technical documentation
- Overseeing contractors and monitoring performance, quality, costs, and programme delivery
- Carrying out site inspections, surveys, and compliance checks
- Ensuring adherence to Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and fire safety requirements
- Supporting budget management, forecasting, and value-for-money objectives
- Building strong relationships with residents, stakeholders, and delivery partners
- Providing technical advice on fire safety systems, legislation, and best practice
About You
We're looking for someone who can combine technical expertise with excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
You'll ideally have:
- A recognised Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent), or significant experience within fire alarm or sprinkler engineering
- Experience managing contractors and installation/maintenance programmes
- Strong knowledge of fire safety systems and remedial works
- Experience producing specifications, designs, drawings, and scopes of work
- Sound understanding of construction Health & Safety and CDM regulations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects on time and within budget
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience within the social housing sector
- Project management qualification (PRINCE2 or equivalent)
- CAD experience and the ability to produce fire alarm drawings
- Knowledge of procurement and contract management processes
