Direct Payment Support Advisor (x2)

Location: Swansea Social Services – Brokerage & Independent Living Service
Contract: 6-Month Temporary Contract
Pay Rate: Grade 6 – £14.59 per hour

Hoop Social Work Recruitment are currently supporting Swansea Social Services Brokerage and Independent Living Service to recruit 2 Direct Payment Support Advisors on a 6-month temporary basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding team that works directly with citizens to promote choice, control, independence, and wellbeing through Direct Payments and personalised care planning.

You will play a vital role in empowering individuals to manage their own care arrangements, supporting them through every step of becoming an employer of Personal Assistants (PAs).

The role offers hybrid working. The onsite base is at the Guildhall, but the role is largely visiting across Swansea County.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide impartial advice, information and guidance on Direct Payments and support options
  • Support service users to become employers, including:
    • Drafting job descriptions and adverts
    • Supporting recruitment, interviews and DBS checks
    • Acting as a DBS verifier
  • Assist with setting up and managing Direct Payment arrangements, including prepaid cards
  • Develop and maintain a Personal Assistant (PA) database
  • Support recruitment and coordination of PA training opportunities
  • Match service users with suitable Personal Assistants based on skills, needs and interests
  • Provide ongoing advice and problem-solving support throughout the employment process
  • Maintain accurate records on PARIS and ensure case notes are updated in a timely manner
  • Liaise with finance, payroll and partner agencies as required
  • Promote independence, safeguarding and person-centred practice at all times
  • Support development of peer networks, resources and information for service users

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Experienced in social care, advice, support work or similar environments in particular Social Services knowledge
  • Awareness and understanding of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act
  • Confident in working with vulnerable adults and complex needs
  • Highly organised with strong IT and communication skills in particular knowledge of how to use WCCIS
  • Knowledgeable (or willing to learn) about Direct Payments and social care legislation
  • Empathetic, patient, and able to empower individuals to make informed choices
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Car driver and access to a car
