Job Description

Child Protection Chair – Gloucestershire

📍 Gloucestershire | Predominantly Remote Working
💷 £40 Umbrella
🕒 Full-Time Preferred | Contract until the End of October | 2 Positions Available

Hoop Social Work is recruiting two experienced Child Protection Chairs to join Gloucestershire's safeguarding service on an agency basis until the end of October.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals to play a key role in improving outcomes for children and families by leading high-quality Child Protection Conferences and ensuring robust multi-agency decision-making.

The Role

As a Child Protection Chair, you will:

  • Chair Initial Child Protection Conferences in person.

  • Chair Review Child Protection Conferences, with face-to-face attendance where required.

  • Provide independent oversight of safeguarding plans and decision-making.

  • Ensure children, young people and families remain at the centre of planning.

  • Promote effective multi-agency working while maintaining high standards of safeguarding practice.

This role focuses specifically on Child Protection Conferences rather than a combined Child Protection Chair/Independent Reviewing Officer service.

Working Arrangements

This is a predominantly home-based role with a flexible approach to hybrid working.

You will be expected to:

  • Attend Initial Child Protection Conferences in person

  • Attend Review Conferences in person where indicated

  • Attend face-to-face team meetings

  • Work from home for the remainder of your duties, with any additional arrangements agreed with your line manager.

To apply, you will need:

  • A minimum of 6 months' UK experience working as a registered Social Worker

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)

  • Current registration with Social Work England

  • An Enhanced DBS, registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

  • The ability to provide 3 years of employment references

  • A full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle

Why register with Hoop Social Work?

  • Over 20 years' experience within the social work recruitment market

  • A specialist agency recruiting across South West England and Wales

  • Exclusive roles and early access to new opportunities

  • PAYE or Umbrella payroll options to suit your preferences

  • Twice-weekly payroll

  • A dedicated consultant as your main point of contact, supported by an experienced team

  • £200 referral bonus for every successful friend or colleague you recommend

  • Wellbeing support and thoughtful extras, including birthday gifts

  • Friendly DBS and compliance support to make the onboarding process straightforward

Due to the nature of this role, we can only consider applications from candidates who hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.

Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available, so please only apply if you meet the above criteria.
