Our client is looking for an experienced locum Social Worker to cover a rare vacancy within a very settled Children Looked After Team in Yeovil, South Somerset. This is a genuinely stable team of 10 social workers who have just been rated 'Good' in an internal inspection, with several areas highlighted as 'Outstanding' — a strong indicator of the quality of practice and management within the team.
The post holder will hold a mixed caseload of children aged 0–18, whose placements may be anywhere in the country, so a willingness to travel is essential. Office attendance is required once a week for the team meeting day and on duty cover days (approximately 4 days per month) — otherwise flexible and remote working is supported.
Key responsibilities include completing high-quality, child-centred assessments, care and pathway plans, court and adoption work, later life letters and life story books. The post holder will also contribute to TAC and PEP meetings, maintain accurate records, and participate in duty, supervision and service improvement.
Locum workers have access to CPD training and innovative technology including Magic Notes.
What We're Looking For
The right candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with solid experience in a statutory children's looked after setting. Experience across the full age range of 0–18 is desirable, along with strong court and assessment skills. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential due to the travel requirements of the role.

- Registration with Social Care Wales
- Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS
- 3 Years of referencing
