We’re supporting a well-established organisation in South Wales looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join their finance team on a temporary basis. This role will play a key part in maintaining financial integrity, supporting decision-making, and driving process improvements across the business.
The Role As Financial Accountant, you’ll take ownership of financial control activities — leading month-end and year-end close processes, preparing accurate financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to provide clarity, efficiency, and insight across all areas of financial reporting.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders to provide clarity, efficiency, and insight across all areas of financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments across multiple entities.
- Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations, maintaining clear documentation and controls.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process efficiencies.
- Support internal and external audits with accurate, compliant financial information.
- Prepare management reports, variance analysis, and commentary to support strategic decision-making.
- Build strong relationships across departments to ensure data integrity and transparency.
- Provide support to the Accounts Payable function where needed.
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting, ideally within a fast-paced or complex environment.
- Strong understanding of gross margin, inventory, and revenue recognition principles.
- Skilled in ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with a keen eye for detail.
