Job Description

Qualified Social Worker - Child Protection Team 

6 month contract

Swansea County Council

up to £38.43 Umbrella

A Qualified Social Worker is required to join Swansea Social Services for an initial 6 month contract in their Supported Care Planning team. This post is based at the Guildhall with office days being Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Pay rate for this role is in line with the ADSS pledge at £30.50 PAYE or £38.43 Umbrella.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Holding a caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans and Children in Need
  • Undertaking Wellbeing Assessments
  • Undertaking Child Protection Enquiries under Section 47 of the Children's Act of 1989
  • Providing support and intervention to families and children in need
  • Liaising/ Working close with partnership agencies to safeguard and support the families and meet the children/ young people's needs
  • Compiling Initial Child Protection Conference reports
  • Convening and chairing Core Group Meetings
  • Initiating and implementing Child Protection Plans
  • Working within pre-proceedings and Public Law Outline
  • Initiating Care Proceedings
  • Reviewing and implementing children's individual care plans
  • Completing/reviewing/implementing Care and Support plans
  • Chairing Care and Support meetings
  • Attending court, preparing statements and care plans and giving verbal evidence when required
  • Attending CSE/CE/HSB Multi-agency meetings
  • Completing SERAF risk assessments
  • Undertaking joint visits with Police to safeguard young people

To apply for this role, you will need to hold -

  • A minimum of 6 months experience of working in the UK as a registered social worker
  • A relevant Social Work Qualification
  • Registration with Social Care Wales / Social Work England
  • Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS
  • 3 Years of referencing
  • Driving license with access to a car
