Children Looked After – Corporate Parenting

Experienced Social Worker
North & Mid Devon (Barnstaple & Tiverton)
37 hours per week

 Up to £42 per hour

Hoop Social Work are delighted to be working with Devon County Council to recruit an Experienced Social Worker to join their Children Looked After (CLA) – Corporate Parenting Team, covering the North and Mid areas of the county.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, child-focused practitioner who is experienced in working at pace and committed to achieving safe, stable, and family-led outcomes for children and young people in care.

The role

You will:

  • Hold a caseload of Children Looked After, building strong, trusting relationships with children, young people, and their families

  • Deliver high-quality assessments, care planning, and reviews with no drift or delay

  • Model high standards of professional social work practice

  • Work effectively within a fast-paced, pressurised environment, including multi-agency and court settings

Working arrangements

  • 37 hours per week

    • Monday–Thursday: 9am–5pm

    • Friday: 9am–4pm

  • Hybrid working available, subject to service needs

    • Minimum 1 day per week in the office for duty and face-to-face team meetings

    • Flexibility to use other office locations on non-duty days (to be agreed with the Team Manager)

  • 9-day fortnight may be considered for the right candidate

  • Free on-site parking

  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a car required

Essential criteria

  • Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience (PQE)

  • Registered with Social Work England

  • Completed ASYE

  • Experience within children’s social care, including court and multi-agency work

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Sound knowledge of legislation, models, and theories relevant to children’s social work

  • Good recording and planning skills

Additional benefits

  • Accommodation / commuter allowance of £150 per week (subject to eligibility criteria) - please note allowance to be reviewed at the end of March 2026
