Social Work Assistant

Newport City Council – Children’s Services
£16.62 per hour PAYE + holiday pay
Initial 3-month contract (until end of April)
Flexible / Hybrid working

Hoop Recruitment are working closely with Newport City Council to recruit a Social Work Assistant to join a highly specialist Children’s Services team.

This team works exclusively with Children in Care who are Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) and No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) cases. It is a unique opportunity to support vulnerable young people within a specialist immigration social work setting. Full time and part time applications considered. Client will consider condensed hours.

About the role:

  • Supporting qualified social workers (no personal caseload)
  • Working directly with young people in their homes
  • Accompanying young people to solicitor appointments
  • Supporting with asylum and immigration-related processes
  • Administrative and practical support to the wider team

The role offers excellent flexibility - hybrid working is fully supported, and as long as work is completed, the Team Manager is very accommodating.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A flexible, compassionate, and proactive approach
  • Car driver with access to a car.
