Social Work Assistant – Fostering Team
Cardiff Children’s Services
£16.62 per hour | 37 hours per week
3 month contract initially
Are you an experienced Social Work Assistant looking to join a well-established and genuinely supportive fostering team?
Cardiff Children’s Services are seeking a proactive and confident Social Work Assistant to join their Fostering Service on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside experienced Social Workers, a Principal Social Worker and a supportive Service Manager within a service that values collaboration and professional development.
The Role
You will hold a caseload of foster carers, providing ongoing support and supervision to ensure high standards of care are maintained for children and young people.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will:

Support and supervise allocated foster carers

Contribute to assessments and care planning

Work closely with multi-agency professionals
-
Review quality of care and promote person-centred, enabling plans
-
Undertake risk assessments and maintain accurate case recordings
-
Support the continued development of the fostering service
What We’re Looking For
We are keen to hear from candidates who bring:
-
Experience working with children and young people
-
Experience working within multi-agency settings
-
Skills in assessment, planning and risk management
-
Knowledge of relevant children’s legislation, including the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act and Fostering Regulations
-
An understanding of trauma-informed approaches (desirable)
-
Confidence working independently as well as within a team
-
Strong recording and organisational skills
A flexible and positive approach is essential as the service continues to develop and evolve.
