Job Description

Senior Supervising Social Worker – Somerset & Devon

Salary: £41,208 + £1,500 OOH Rota Allowance + £750 Homeworking Allowance (£43,458)
Hours: 35 per week | Permanent | Flexible Working
Location: Homebased – within a reasonable distance of Somerset and Devon

Are you an experienced Supervising Social Worker looking to join an ‘Outstanding’  fostering service that truly values its people?

Hoop Social Work are working with the UK’s largest ‘not for profit’ fostering agency, who put children and carers right at the heart of everything they do. This is a rare opportunity to join their trauma-informed fostering team covering Somerset and Devon. Specific current areas include Paignton, Yeoville, Holsworthy and Axbridge.

You’ll be supporting a stable group of foster carers locally and joining a friendly, high-performing team who are proud of the difference they make. The service is homebased, with travel for visits, monthly team meetings in Bristol, and occasional wellbeing or team events.

What makes this role stand out?

  • The IFA is known for genuinely looking after its staff - flexible working, a comprehensive wellbeing programme, and a fantastic benefits package all designed to help you thrive.

  • OFSTED recently praised the agency for valuing its people and promoting exceptional emotional wellbeing and work-life balance.

  • You’ll be joining a team where reflective, trauma-informed practice isn’t just a buzzword - it’s embedded in everything they do.

Who we’re looking for:

  • A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

  • Experience working with foster carers, looked after children, or within family placement

  • Sound knowledge of fostering regulations and National Minimum Standards

  • Excellent communication, organisational and report writing skills

  • Confident working independently and managing your own diary

  • Passionate about supporting carers and improving outcomes for children

In return, you’ll receive:

  • 31 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays

  • 45p per mile for business travel

  • Flexible working options and family-friendly policies

  • Homeworking allowance, IT equipment, and setup loan

  • Access to wellbeing and mental health support (including counselling, GP, physio)

  • Fantastic learning & development opportunities

  • Pension scheme and clear progression structure

If you’re looking to be valued as a professional, supported in your role, and part of an organisation that truly puts children first - this could be the perfect next step.
