Job Description

Quality Assurance Reviewing Officer

Pay rate - £47.53

Swindon Borough Council

We are currently recruiting Quality Assurance Reviewing Officers (QAROs) on behalf of a forward-thinking local authority to join their growing service.

This is a dynamic and influential role, reporting to the Service Manager, where you will deliver a high-quality quality assurance and reviewing function across a range of need levels. The post plays a key role in driving strengths-based practice and embedding a positive, reflective practice culture across the service.

Quality Assurance Reviewing Officers ensure that all statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements are met in relation to independent reviewing functions, including children in care, child protection and fostering. Beyond compliance, the role has a strong focus on service development and continuous improvement, providing robust independent oversight of practice and promoting effective partnership working with professionals, families and carers to improve outcomes for children and young people.

The service provides independent professional support and constructive challenge, holding the wider service to account for practice quality and service improvement. A strong emphasis is placed on championing children’s rights, including their right to family life, and ensuring their voice remains central to all decision-making.

The local authority operates the Family Safeguarding Model, an approach that staff are highly engaged with and passionate about due to the positive impact it is having on children, young people and families. Where children do need to be looked after, the QARO plays a vital role in ensuring the Local Authority is delivering the highest possible standard of care and planning.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals seeking a role with real influence, professional autonomy and a clear focus on improving practice and outcomes.
