Experienced Social Worker – Mental Health Services (BaNES)

We are seeking an experienced and confident Social Worker to work across two established mental health services within Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES): the BaNES Recovery Service and the BaNES Older Adult Community Mental Health Team.

This is a varied and rewarding role, suited to a practitioner who is comfortable working with adults with complex mental health needs and who can manage statutory responsibilities confidently and independently.

About the Role

The post holder will undertake a wide range of statutory duties, including (but not limited to):

• Completing Care Act assessments for individuals with complex needs

• Reviewing placements and packages of care

• Preparing and completing Court of Protection documentation

• Completing Mental Health Act documentation and associated processes

• Managing Care Act processes from assessment through to review

Location & Working Arrangements

The role will be primarily based at Bath NHS House, Bath (BA1 3QE), with additional working from Keynsham Civic Centre. The contract runs until June, with an expectation of office-based working 4–5 days per week.

Due to the geographical nature of BaNES, which includes rural areas as well as the city of Bath and the market towns of Keynsham and Midsomer Norton, the ability to travel independently across the area is essential.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

• Be a qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration

• Have experience working within adult mental health services

• Be confident completing Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Court of Protection work

• Be organised, resilient, and able to manage a varied caseload effectively

• A minimum of 6 months experience of working in the UK as a registered social worker
• A relevant Social Work Qualification
• Registration with Social Work England
• Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS
• 3 Years of referencing
• Driving license with access to a car
