Higher Clerical Assistant (Reception) – Children’s Services
Cardiff Council – Hafan Gobaith Office (Office Based)
Full Time – 37 hours per week | Contract until mid-June
£13.47 per hour (PAYE) + holiday pay on top
Cardiff Council Children’s Services are looking for experienced administrative candidates to join their busy Business Support team on a full-time temporary contract until mid-June.
This role will be fully office-based at Hafan Gobaith and provides key reception and administrative support to several Children’s Services teams. Full induction and training will be provided.
The Role
As a Higher Clerical Assistant (Reception), you will support the Admin Team at Hafan Gobaith, providing reception and finance support to:

North and South Locality Social Work Teams (approximately 10 teams / 200 staff)

Personal Adviser Service
-
Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker Service
The building is open to the public, so the role requires a professional and welcoming approach when dealing with both members of the public and professionals.
Working Hours
Reception cover is required:
-
Monday – Thursday: 08:30am – 5:00pm

Friday: 08:30am – 4:30pm
(37 hours per week – office based)
Key Responsibilities

Managing reception duties, including answering phones and greeting visitors
-
Supporting the Front Door service for Children’s Services

Providing finance administration, including:
-Recording petty cash spend
- Processing invoices, BACS payments, and purchasing card transactions

Recording information on the Client Record System
-
Updating spreadsheets and administrative records
-
General clerical duties including post processing, scanning, and photocopying
-
Booking travel and hotel arrangements when required
Requirements

Previous office / administrative experience
-
Strong customer service and communication skills
-
Ability to work in a busy office environment

Good IT skills and attention to detail

Must be available to start immediately
