Experienced Social Worker – Intake & Assessment


£40,777 - £45,091 + Market Supplement £5,000 per annum on top of salary (full-time equivalent, reviewed annually)

Cardiff Council is seeking experienced Social Workers to join its Intake & Assessment Team, a fast-paced and progressive environment supporting children and families across the city.

About the Role:
The Intake & Assessment Team undertakes Well-being and S47 assessments, providing short-term interventions to support families and increase safety within the home. Cases are generally short-term, with long-term work transferred at the first planning meeting.

Social Workers in this team will:

  • Be involved in care and private law proceedings

  • Work on a duty rota one week in every three, allowing structured planning and record-keeping

  • Operate under strength-based models to achieve the best outcomes for families

  • Receive support from an experienced and collaborative team

Candidate Requirements:

  • Registered Social Worker with Social Care Wales or Social Work England

  • Significant experience in assessment, care planning, person-centred planning, and care management

  • Skilled in working with multi-agency partners to identify and meet individuals’ care and support needs

  • Strong assessment, record-writing, and report-writing abilities

  • Excellent teamwork, communication, organisational, and IT skills
