Permanency Team Social Worker

Gloucestershire (based at Grosvenor Hall, Gloucester)
37 hours per week
Contract until 2 August (with extension potential)
Up to £41 per hour – Umbrella
£32.15 per hour – PAYE

Hoop Social Work are supporting Gloucestershire County Council with the recruitment of an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their Children in Care / Permanency Team based in Gloucester.

This is a full-time contract role, offering 37 hours per week, with pay rates fixed by the Local Authority at up to £41 per hour via Umbrella, with PAYE options also available.

The role

The authority is seeking an experienced Social Worker who understands the importance of timely permanence planning and can demonstrate grip, tenacity, and child-focused practice to ensure young people feel safe, secure, and supported to achieve their potential.

You will:

• Work with children in care, with a clear focus on permanence planning

• Complete Child Permanence Reports (CPRs) under supervision

• Contribute to family finding and matching, including work with adopters

• Prepare high-quality court reports and support plans

• Undertake direct work and visits as required to meet service needs

Working arrangements

• Hybrid working available

• Expectation of 3 days per week in the office, alongside visits as required

• Flexibility is essential, as working arrangements may change in line with team needs

Essential requirements

To be considered, you must have:

• A recognised Social Work qualification

• Registration with Social Work England or Social Care Wales

• A minimum of 6 months’ post-qualifying experience working as a Social Worker in the UK

• Experience within Children in Care / Permanency services

• A valid UK driving licence and access to a car

• Enhanced DBS (on the update service or willingness to apply)

• 3 years of referencing
