Ready to make a real difference for children with additional needs and their families?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Child Health & Disability (CHAD) Team in Cardiff. This is a fantastic team that works in true partnership with families and professionals, delivering strengths-based practice and meaningful outcomes for children with complex needs.

If you thrive in a multi-agency environment and are confident working across safeguarding, care planning and court work – this could be your next contract.

The Role

You will be:

  • Working alongside a multi-agency team of professionals in partnership with families

  • Using the Signs of Safety approach to underpin your practice

  • Completing Wellbeing Assessments

  • Undertaking Child Protection enquiries

  • Developing and reviewing Care & Support Plans

  • Supporting families within a multi-agency framework

  • Attending Child Protection Conferences, CLA Reviews and Court (where required)

  • Providing specialist advice across wider Children’s Services in respect of children with additional needs

  • Participating in the team duty rota and regular team meetings

  • Producing high-quality written and verbal work

  • Offering peer support to Newly Qualified Social Workers

The team operates a flexible, hybrid model – a mix of home working, agile visits and office presence at County Hall.

What You’ll Need

  • Degree or Masters in Social Work (or equivalent)

  • Experience within a Child Health & Disability Team

  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Minimum 6 months’ UK experience as a registered Social Worker

  • Registration with Social Care Wales or Social Work England

  • Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)

  • 3 years of referencing

  • Full driving licence and access to a car

⚠️ Due to the nature of the role, only qualified Social Workers registered with Social Care Wales or Social Work England can be considered. No sponsorship available.
