Child Protection Co-ordinator – Somerset Council
Children’s Advocacy and Independent Reviewing Service
Up to 4 days per week onsite - Somerset
We’re working with Somerset Council who have an exciting opportunity within their Children’s Advocacy and Independent Reviewing Service for a Child Protection Co-ordinator to join their well-established, supportive team. This position is full time and based in Taunton for 4 days, and 1 day working from home. Pay rate is £44 Umbrella. Initial 3 month contract.
This role would be a great next step for an experienced Social Worker, Advanced Practitioner or Team Manager who is looking for a new challenge that combines quality assurance, leadership and advocacy for children and young people.
You’ll play a key part in ensuring that child protection plans are effective, well-reviewed and truly focused on the needs of the child. The role includes leading on quality assurance activity such as practice evaluations, dip reviews, and feedback analysis to make sure every child’s voice is heard and that the “so what” for the child always drives decision-making. This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the chance to influence practice across the service, while maintaining that direct connection with children and young people in Somerset.

A recognised Social Work qualification

At least 5 years post-qualifying experience

Strong understanding of child protection processes and quality assurance

Confidence in leading and supporting colleagues to deliver the best outcomes for children

- A minimum of 6 months experience of working in the UK as a registered social worker
- A relevant Social Work Qualification
- Registration with Social Care Wales / Social Work England
- Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS
- 3 Years of referencing
- Driving license with access to a car
