Employee Relations Specialist
Salary: £50,000 plus excellent benefits
Location: Pontypridd base with travel across Wales and the borders + hybrid working when the role allows
Hoop Professional Services & HR are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join a highly renowned organisation in Wales on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned ER professional with strong union experience and a background in complex environments to make an immediate impact.

You will take full ownership of a high-volume ER caseload, working proactively to resolve issues and support cultural change. This role requires flexibility, resilience, and the confidence to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end management of ER cases, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, and absence matters, ensuring timely and legally compliant outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with union representatives to maintain constructive relationships and ensure fair and consistent application of policies.
- Support organisational change initiatives, including restructures, consultations, and cultural transformation projects.
- Identify and mitigate ER risks, ensuring compliance with employment law and internal policies. Support and manage Employment Tribunal cases when required.
- Partner with HR Business Partners, managers, and external legal advisors to deliver effective ER solutions and drive best practice.
- Maintain accurate records in the case management system and provide regular MI reporting. Use data to identify trends and recommend interventions.
- Support delivery of training to managers on ER topics, policies, and procedures to build capability and consistency.
- Contribute to the review and development of HR policies, ensuring they remain current, practical, and legally sound.
- Work closely with colleagues across HR, delivering a cohesive, high-quality service and championing a strong “one team” ethos.
Our client is seeking a professional who can demonstrate:
- CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive experience handling complex ER casework within unionised environments
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practice
- Proven ability to influence and manage stakeholders effectively
- Confidence working autonomously and flexibly across multiple locations
- High emotional intelligence and the resilience to perform under pressure
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
