Employee Relations & Policy Manager
Location: South Wales (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Employee Relations & Policy Manager will lead a team of HR professionals, taking full ownership of the organisation’s employee relations function and HR policy framework. The Employee Relations & Policy Manager will lead a team of HR professionals, taking full ownership of the organisation’s employee relations function and HR policy framework. You will play a key role in shaping organisational culture, maintaining strong union relationships, and ensuring continued compliance with employment legislation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and develop a high-performing HR team
- Own and oversee all HR policy development, implementation, and governance
- Manage a high-volume employee relations caseload with expert guidance and oversight
- Identify and mitigate ER risks, supporting a positive organisational culture
- Review, update, and implement HR policies in line with current legislation and best practice
- Deliver training and guidance to ensure consistent application of policies across the business
- Monitor ER trends and identify areas for improvement
- Maintain constructive and professional relationships with recognised trade unions
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders across all levels
- Contribute to the wider people strategy and long-term organisational goals
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong and up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation
- Proven experience managing HR teams and/or leading complex ER casework
- A demonstrable background in HR policy development and implementation
- Experience working within a unionised environment
- Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and a high-volume workload with resilience and flexibility
Qualifications
- CIPD qualification or equivalent HR-related credentials (Level 5 or above preferred)
