Employee Relations & Policy Manager
Location: South Wales (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Hoop Recruitment is proud to be supporting a highly regarded and well-established organisation based in South Wales in the search for an experienced Employee Relations & Policy Manager.

The Employee Relations & Policy Manager will lead a team of HR professionals, taking full ownership of the organisation’s employee relations function and HR policy framework. You will play a key role in shaping organisational culture, maintaining strong union relationships, and ensuring continued compliance with employment legislation and best practice.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead, support, and develop a high-performing HR team
  • Own and oversee all HR policy development, implementation, and governance
  • Manage a high-volume employee relations caseload with expert guidance and oversight
  • Identify and mitigate ER risks, supporting a positive organisational culture
  • Review, update, and implement HR policies in line with current legislation and best practice
  • Deliver training and guidance to ensure consistent application of policies across the business
  • Monitor ER trends and identify areas for improvement
  • Maintain constructive and professional relationships with recognised trade unions
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders across all levels
  • Contribute to the wider people strategy and long-term organisational goals
 

Essential Experience & Skills

 

  • Strong and up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation
  • Proven experience managing HR teams and/or leading complex ER casework
  • A demonstrable background in HR policy development and implementation
  • Experience working within a unionised environment
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and a high-volume workload with resilience and flexibility
 

Qualifications

 

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent HR-related credentials (Level 5 or above preferred)
