Job Description

About the Role We’re looking for seasonal Playworkers to join team, supporting the delivery of a variety of open-access Playschemes for one of our valued clients across Newport.

If you’re passionate about play, love working with children and young people, and enjoy creating fun, inclusive environments — we’d love to hear from you.

Experience working with children with complex needs is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of open-access Playschemes across multiple sites in Newport (daily travel required).

  • Create and facilitate engaging, safe, and inclusive indoor and outdoor play experiences.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team to deliver high-quality play provision.

  • Encourage creativity, exploration, and confidence-building through child-led play.

  • Contribute to the planning, setup, and organisation of daily activities and ensure the smooth running of sessions.

  • Promote and adhere to safeguarding, health & safety, and equality and diversity policies at all times.

  • Build positive relationships with children, young people, and their families.

About You Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people in play, youth work, or care settings.

  • Passionate about the value of play in children’s development.

  • Able to work flexibly across multiple locations.

  • Energetic, creative, and confident in outdoor environments — rain or shine!

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of safeguarding principles and procedures.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting children with complex or additional needs.

  • Driving license and access to a vehicle (to support travel between sites).

Bonus Qualifications (Not essential but highly desirable):
  • Manual Handling A–F (face-to-face)

  • Team Teach Level 2 (face-to-face)

  • First Emergency at Work or Paediatric First Aid

  • Epilepsy Awareness

  • Buccal Midazolam Administration

  • Administering Medication

  • Enteral Feeding

Why Join Us? We believe in the power of play to help children grow, learn, and connect. As a Sessional Playworker, you'll help create meaningful experiences that children will remember for a lifetime — while gaining valuable experience in a supportive, creative environment.
