Exam Invigilator

Role Overview

Hoop Education are seeking reliable and professional Exam Invigilators to support schools and colleges within the Cardiff area during examination periods. Exam Invigilators play a vital role in ensuring examinations are conducted in line with awarding body regulations, maintaining a calm, fair, and secure environment for all candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up examination rooms in accordance with exam requirements (seating arrangements, notices, materials).

• Ensure exam conditions are maintained throughout the examination.

• Distribute and collect examination papers and materials.

• Supervise candidates to prevent malpractice and ensure compliance with exam regulations.

• Respond appropriately to candidate queries, referring issues to the Lead Invigilator when necessary.

• Escort candidates to and from the examination room when required.

• Deal with any incidents or irregularities calmly and in line with procedures.

• Complete required documentation accurately and report any concerns to the examinations officer.

• Assist with the secure collection and return of exam materials at the end of each session.

Skills and Experience

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.

• Calm, professional, and vigilant approach.

• Strong communication skills.

• Ability to manage groups of students in a quiet, controlled manner.

• Reliable, punctual, and flexible.

• Previous experience as an Exam Invigilator is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

• Able to remain focused for extended periods.

• Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

• Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS (or hold a valid DBS).

• Ability to work during peak exam periods, including early mornings.

• Suitable for ad-hoc, temporary, or seasonal work.

Working Pattern

• Flexible, with work offered on a day-to-day or sessional basis.

• Opportunities available during main exam seasons and mock exam periods.
