The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with children of diverse needs, including those with special educational requirements or disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, patience, and a passion for supporting young learners’ development.
Duties
- Supervise classes across various subjects in the absence of the regular teacher, maintaining classroom discipline and organisation
- Implement lesson plans provided by teachers or adapt activities as necessary to suit the needs of pupils
- Support pupils with special educational needs ensuring they are fully included in learning activities
- Assist with behaviour management and promote a respectful classroom environment
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate
- Uphold safeguarding policies and promote a safe, welcoming atmosphere for all students
What you will need
- 6+ months of experience working with children or vulnerable adults
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
- EWC registration (or willingness to register)
- A calm, organised approach and excellent communication skills
- A genuine passion for helping pupils succeed
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with pupils and staff
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual student needs
- Organised and reliable, capable of managing classroom dynamics independently
