Description
Social Worker - Childrens Services
Vale of Glamorgan

A Qualified Social Worker is required on a full time basis to join the Vale of Glamorgan Childrens Services. This is a full time position and the contract is for 3 months intially, based at the Docks Offices'. Pay rate for this position is £34.89 per hour.

The ICF Diversion Social Worker will work with children/young people with a recent diagnosis of ADHD, ASD & ADHD and ASD without a learning disability in the hope that this preventative work will support families to manage without ongoing Social Services Intervention. The referral must indicate that the need is around the impact of the diagnosis for the child/young person and is not about wider family needs. Where children/young people do not have a current diagnosis they should be referred to Families First Advice Line for their support needs to be addressed. If the initial contact is made to the Families First Advice Line and the needs are in relation to the impact for the child/young person of their diagnosis and an assessment is required then they will forward the referral for the consideration of the Diversion Social Worker. The Diversion Social Worker will link in with the Families First Line to provide consultation and support, ensure professional links and promote good practice across all services. The assessment will be proportionate and completed within 7 days. Care and Support needs will be identified on the assessment and a separate Care and Support Plan will not be developed. During assessment if significant safeguarding or enduring wider family needs are identified then the referral should be passed to FACT/Intake for their team to assess if the child/young person has a diagnosis of ADHD. If child/young person has a diagnosis of ASD then referral will be reallocated to CHAD social worker. The Diversion Social Worker will develop professional links and work in partnership with and promote good practice with partner agencies including Parenting Service, Barnardos, FACT, Action for Children and FFAL who provide a spectrum of services which may benefit the children/young people and their families.
