Social work - How the job market has been impacted by COVID-19 by Sarah Leigh

Since lockdown we have experienced a lot of our clients putting their vacancies on-hold until further notice. One of the main reasons behind this is due to the challenges of on-boarding agency social workers when offices are closed and the expectation is to work solely from home.

We are still speaking to our clients regularly, and they have confirmed they are still wanting to move forward with these vacancies once in a better position to determine what the future is going to look like. Most are aware that potentially the future will still mean a considerable amount of home working and online meetings.

We are in talks with some clients re future positions also, i.e they are forward planning more. Such as where permanent staff are working their notice we have had contracts come up for in 2 months' time where people are leaving to go elsewhere / retire. There will forever be a need for locum social workers so do not worry that the market is "drying up". This is just for the immediate period and ourselves as well as our clients anticipate an influx of roles post lockdown.

We are using this time internally to register those candidates who are possibly not happy in their roles/contract coming to an end / looking for a change of agency etc. If you are interested in registering with Hoop Social Work, now is the best time to do this. We can get you compliant and ready for work in advance of roles coming through. This means there will be no delay other than your potential notice period, as your DBS and references and all other documentation will be in place already.

If you want to register with myself at Hoop I am setting up Zoom calls for the next 2 weeks to do face to face registrations and verify documents. If you would like me to arrange this please get in touch and i will allocate a slot, and work to your availability around your current commitments i.e homeschooling / workload / house chores etc

Thank you for taking the time to read.
