Education - How the job market has been impacted by COVID-19 by Blair Driscoll

As you can all imagine as soon as the closure of schools was announced the immediate day-to-day supply market came to a grinding halt, initially our immediate concern was securing pay for out teaching and support staff who had been booked on long term contracts, which we have been very successful in doing so. It was then a case of actively trying to find our staff alternate work, with Hoop having a Health & Social Care division we immediately contacted Children's Residential Homes, Care Homes etc and transferred a large number of staff across from schools into immediate placements.

After the initial settling down period, we continued speaking to the Key Decision-makers within schools on a regular basis and have picked up a number of September vacancies that we are working on and we have secured positions for some of our candidates already. Head Teachers who we have worked with over a long period of time and who trust our judgement and value our honesty have already said to expect an increase in the number of September vacancies they give to us as they still do not know whether they will personally be able to interview candidates in the same way as they would normally would.

At present we are all working form home and using this time to register new candidates so we are primed ready to fill all schools requirements when they do re-open which will hopefully be before the end of the Summer term. We have already registered a large number of PGCE students who would be normally at this time of year be in the middle of their 2nd school placement, Olivia our NQT Mentor has recently written a training package to help the them through their NQT year and the new Professional Development Passport.

If you are a PGCE Student, an NQT, possibly a Teacher or Teaching Assistant whose current position has ended or you are just looking for a new agency who care about their staff then please give us a ring. One of the team will talk you through our current vacancies,  the online registration process and will arrange a Zoom/Whatsapp call  for a face to face registration and to verify your documents.
