I am currently a student in my second year of completing the Business and Management degree at University of South Wales and have been given the opportunity to complete a 10-week internship. The 10-week internship programme partners with organisations from the public, private and voluntary sector all over Wales to give students the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in their chosen field. The work placement exposes students to the real-life workplace and business expectations.

Completing my internship at Hoop as a Marketing Assistant was an amazing experience. My role was to assist the marketing team in creating content and identify marketing opportunities. The application process was really easy, and they got back to me a few days after my interview. I have learnt so much from my mentor Bethan who has helped me with everything from my very first day. I strongly believe I would not have gained so much knowledge in marketing if it were not for Bethan. Her support and guidance have helped me become an excellent marketer and boosted my skillset. Regularly receiving useful feedback was valuable to me and helped me always improve.

I have learnt numerous new skills that have developed my growth, confidence, and creativity. Each skill gave me an insight into different areas of marketing and gave me an idea of what I want to specialise in in the future. These include:

  • Creating engaging canvas
  • Blogging
  • Copywriting
  • Creating campaigns
  • Google analytics
  • PPC / Sponsored Ads
  • SEO
  • Social Media Management
  • Email marketing
  • Market research

Everyone at Hoop were so friendly and welcoming and the company culture is amazing. I highly recommend the internship programme to any student looking to gain experience and learn new skills to kickstart their career.
