Working with Hoop has been a life-changing experience. No two days are ever the same in our
office; speaking with different people each week, meeting and working with new companies and
celebrating Hoop with the world.
When I first joined Hoop, I was new to recruitment (and am still getting to grips with all it has to
offer!) On my first day I was welcomed with a box of office treats; including stationary, a key to the
front door and some emergency sweets for a rainy day. It was from this moment that I knew I was
working for an organisation that wanted me to be there and I was excited for what my probation
period would bring.
Over the next six months, I learnt about things that at times I had no idea existed just the year
before. I was thrown into a fast-paced and exciting industry, where each day brings a new challenge
and a new adventure. Your role as Consultant becomes that of a Plate Spinner; trying to keep each
plate up and from breaking onto the floor. My Directors assure me that this is how I’ll feel for at
least a good two years. But in the meantime, I was learning and my passion for what I was doing and
for who I was helping was starting to grow.
I had worked previously in the retail sector, working in a high street store. Customer service and
working with people was always want I had enjoyed and what I had wanted to do. But I felt I wasn’t
able to make the difference I was hoping for while working in sales. Then Hoop provided me with the
opportunity to work with people every day and to help them find a new career. There was no
greater feeling than telling someone that they had got the job and to hear them roar with disbelief
and excitement down the phone.
Through all of my plate spinning and learning, I have had a constant circle of support around myself.
It was not easy starting in a new field, a new office and in a new team. But with those at Hoop you
never have to deal with anything alone. We are an honest group, who are here to build each other
up and never pull one another down. Together we celebrate each’s successes and the successes of
Hoop; most recently with a speed boat trip around the bay for our second birthday!
My first six months in recruitment have been a whirlwind and I must admit have flown by. To me,
Hoop represents what it means to try something new and to not be afraid. I am encouraged and we
encourage you, to step outside your comfort zone and take risks. I’m incredibly excited for what the
next six months (and more) are to bring and I look forward to spending it with Hoop.
